The Enrich nutritional ethos is based on a modern and flexible approach to eating and this forms the foundation of our nutritional balanced, complete meals, aligned specifically to your lifestyle. Each meal has the right balance of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. When these elements are in balance you can experience sustained levels of energy throughout the day and improve your overall well-being over the long term. Simply put, this means that with each Enrich dish you can trust that you get maximum nutrition, ultimate convenience and most importantly deliciously designed dishes for satiety. Below you will find our whys.

Why we select Each ingredient with such conscious consideration to maximise your nutrition and satiety levels.

Increased fruit and vegetables

We all know that we should get our 5 a day, but why are fruits and vegetables so beneficial for our health?

Following the tenets of the flexitarian diet, Enrich dishes are built on a base of plant foods. You can never have enough fruits and vegetables, with the World Health Organisation recommending a minimum of 400g, or 5 servings, a day. Consuming at least this amount can have a protective effect on your risk of developing serious health problems, including heart disease, stroke and some cancers. Higher fruit and vegetable consumption is associated with lower blood pressure and cholesterol.

In addition, fruits and vegetables are our main source of vitamins and minerals. When we eat a wide variety, we ensure that we have the necessary combination of micronutrients to thrive. This includes antioxidants, which have important anti-inflammatory properties, and B vitamins, which are vital in our immune system.

Fibre

The next consideration in building an Enrich dish is fibre. This type of carbohydrate, which your body cannot break down, is naturally found in fruits and vegetables. It also comes from wholegrains, nuts, seeds and pulses – all of which can be found in abundance in our menus.

Fibre passes through the gut to your large intestine. Here it ‘feeds’ the good bacteria which can be found there, contributing to your overall gut health. We are just only beginning to scratch the surface in understanding the importance of good gut health, but we know that it plays a pivotal role in overall wellbeing. As well as this, adequate fibre intake helps to keep things moving in your digestive system, helping to prevent constipation.

Quality protein sources

Protein is a vital macronutrient in our diets, utilised in many different processes in our bodies. This includes cell growth and repair, and functioning of our bones and muscles. Despite what you might think, generally people are consuming enough protein in their diets. However, it is important to give some consideration to the quality of your protein sources.

Protein is found in a variety of foods but can generally be divided into animal sources and plant sources. At Enrich, our focus is on quality protein sources. Lean cuts of meat, such as chicken, fish or lean beef, allow us to consume all of the essential amino acids our body needs without high amounts of saturated fat. Plant protein sources, such as beans, lentils or chickpeas, are naturally low in fat and high in fibre, adding to their overall beneficial effect on our health.

A focus on the good fats

While there has been debate in recent years on the role of saturated fat, found mainly in red meats and dairy, the evidence still suggests that our focus should be on the addition of unsaturated fats to our diets. This kind of fat is found mostly in plant sources, such as olive oil, nuts and seeds. Higher consumption of these fats has been associated with lower cholesterol.

Enrich dishes place the focus on the inclusion of healthy fats where possible, cooking with olive oil and adding nuts and seeds. We also share many delicious ways to eat oily fish, such as salmon, which contain omega-3 fatty acids. These unsaturated fats have numerous beneficial effects for our heart and brain health.

We want you to feel good about your meals, from beginning to end, which is why we put the same effort into selecting the ingredients in your meals as we do into the packaging it comes in. We use only compostable packaging along with consciously sourced, nutrient-dense, flavourful ingredients.
